Salisbury Based

Art that lives
on your skin

Ritual Ink 49 is a black & grey realism studio based in Salisbury, Maryland. We specialize in one style — not because it is the only style worth doing, but because doing one thing at the highest possible level demands everything.

Black and grey realism is the discipline of building a full tonal range — from the deepest shadow to the brightest highlight — using only black ink diluted in distilled water. No colour. No shortcuts. Just craft.

Every piece we create is custom designed for the person wearing it. We do not work from flash. We do not rush. We work until it is right.

Black and grey tattoo work

Why black
& grey?

Colour fades. Trends fade. Black and grey realism ages better than any other tattoo style. The tonal depth that makes the work look photographic on day one becomes a rich, sculptural piece of art over decades.

The style is technically demanding. Creating soft gradients, sharp highlights, and fine textures using nothing but diluted black ink requires years of practice and genuine mastery. There is no hiding behind colour. The drawing either works or it does not.

It also suits almost every skin tone. Because the work is built on contrast and shadow — not pigment mixing — black and grey realism produces consistent, lasting results across a wide range of complexions.

Ages Exceptionally Well

Greyscale work outlasts colour tattoos by years. The tonal range remains readable and bold through decades of natural skin change.

Suits All Skin Tones

Built on contrast rather than colour, black and grey realism delivers consistent results across the full spectrum of skin complexions.

Technically Demanding

No colour to hide behind. The quality of the drawing, shading, and highlights is entirely visible — which is why mastery matters.

Timeless Aesthetic

Style trends come and go. A well-executed black and grey piece looks as relevant in twenty years as it does on the day it heals.

What They Say

★★★★★ 5.0 · Rated on Google & Facebook

The detail in my portrait piece is unreal. You can see every shadow, every strand of hair. I have been collecting tattoos for years and this is the best work on my body — no contest.

Marcus D.

I came in with just a vague idea and left with a design I love completely. The consultation process made me feel heard. The tattoo itself healed beautifully. Highly recommend.

Tanya R.

Got a memorial piece done for my father. The likeness is perfect. I cried when I saw the stencil. The whole experience was handled with care and professionalism from start to finish.

FAQ

Do you only do black and grey?+

Yes — black and grey realism is the only style we offer. It is a deliberate choice. Specialising in one discipline allows us to execute it at the highest possible level. We do not offer colour, fine line, geometric, or permanent makeup.

Is the consultation really free?+

Completely. No charge, no obligation. We want to make sure the concept is right, the placement works, and that you feel confident before any deposit is taken. Walk away at any point.

How do I prepare for my session?+

Come well-rested and well-fed. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before. Wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows easy access to the placement area. Bring snacks for longer sessions. Stay hydrated.

How long does healing take?+

Surface healing typically takes 2–3 weeks. Full skin-depth healing takes closer to 3–4 months. During this time, avoid sun exposure, swimming, and picking. We provide a full aftercare sheet and kit on the day.

What is your deposit policy?+

A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your session date. This amount is deducted from your final total on the day. Rescheduling is allowed with at least 48 hours notice — cancellations within 48 hours forfeit the deposit.

Can I bring reference photos?+

Please do. Reference images are one of the most useful tools in the design process. You can send them directly via Instagram DM, email us at daemonblack323@gmail.com, or bring printed copies to your consultation.
